Over July 25-27 a number of the Superior Solar staff attended Clean Energy Week at Darling Harbour Sydney. The week hosted 2 parallel conferences, Clean Energy Week Annual Conference and the Appropriate Technology Retailers Association of Australia (ATRAA) Conference – Australia’s largest solar event. CEC Week is Australia’s largest event for the renewable energy and energy efficiency industries.

The week was attended by over 2500 delegates, 172 speakers, combined with 10,000 square meters of exhibitors, 2 formal dinners, a public debate, awards programs and an education program for over 500 primary-school students.

Thursday and Friday was the ATRAA conference. The conference was opened by Roger Meads, Managing director of Conergy who were the major sponsor. Following Roger was a passionate speech of support by Senator Christine Milne, leader of the Australian Greens. Senator Milne probably deserves the quote of the conference award when saying “The stone age didn’t end because we ran out of stones. The fossil fuel age won’t end when we run out of fossil fuel” A real call up for our industry to forge forward with innovation and efficiency.

The conference went on covering many aspects of the industry from current market position, to emerging issues, market developments, technology innovation, sales and marketing, quality and performance etc.

It was another great chance for all of us here at Superior Solar to stay on the cutting edge of our industry and receive information first hand. We are now well underway in making changes to ensure we comply with the new AS 5033 for all installations moving forward. We are also excited about the future of our industry and believe the next 3 areas of growth over the coming few years will be in Commercial Solar Power 30-100kW, Grid Connect Hybrid systems combining both solar power and battery storage and finally in data logging/monitoring.

The exhibition area was a great opportunity to further relationships with our existing suppliers such as Conergy, Q-Cells, SMA, SI Clean Energy (Power-One) and Mpower. We also were able to view a number of new products from these supplies and a range of others that will be available in future.

Overall it was a great week finished off with the ATRAA Gala dinner and awards night at Luna Park!
